NEXT WEEK. FREEZING TEMPERATURES AT THE SURFACE WILL REMAIN IN
PLACE FOR MUCH OF THIS TIME AS THE STORM SYSTEM BEGINS SPREADING
VERY MOIST AIR AND LIFT IN ALOFT. THIS PROCESS WILL RESULT IN

* TIMING…OCCASIONAL LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE ALONG WITH ISOLATED
LIGHT FREEZING RAIN…SLEET AND SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE
THROUGH MUCH OF TODAY. THE HIGHEST CHANCES OF A WINTRY MIX WILL
BE ON THE CAPROCK TODAY. A MORE SIGNIFICANT SURGE OF WINTRY
PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE REGION FROM WEST TO EAST THIS
EVENING INTO TONIGHT AND PERSIST INTO SUNDAY. WIDESPREAD
PRECIPITATION SHOULD TAPER OFF BY EARLY MONDAY MORNING. MODERATE
TO HEAVY ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET… SNOW…AND FREEZING RAIN ARE
VERY LIKELY AT TIMES FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY.

* MAIN IMPACT…CONTINUED SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH
ADDITIONAL FROZEN PRECIPITATION THROUGH THIS WEEKEND WILL
PROLONG AND EXACERBATE HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS. ICE
ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH OR MORE AND SNOWFALL OF
4 INCHES OR MORE ARE POSSIBLE. THE SOUTHWEST TEXAS PANHANDLE AND
WESTERN SOUTH PLAINS ARE MOST FAVORED TO RECEIVE HEAVY SNOWFALL
AMOUNTS…WHILE THE ROLLING PLAINS WILL BE FAVORED FOR THE
HEAVIER ICING…THOUGH A COMBINATION OF ICE…SLEET AND SNOW
WILL BE POSSIBLE EVERYWHERE.

* OTHER IMPACTS…THESE CONDITIONS OFTEN PRODUCE MANY SERIOUS
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS. TRAVEL MAY BECOME VERY DIFFICULT OR
IMPOSSIBLE IN SOME AREAS BY LATE THIS EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY. IF
